Gowerton School Girls’ Sport Tour to Gibraltar

Gowerton School girls’ netball and hockey teams departed from London Heathrow for their exciting multi-sport tour to Gibraltar — a destination known for its warm climate, stunning scenery, and welcoming sporting community.

On arrival, the teams wasted no time getting into action with a pro–coach-led hockey training session, delivered by the women’s national team coach. The session focused on developing key technical skills and tactical awareness, setting the tone for the week ahead. 
Off the pitch, the group enjoyed a tour of the Rock of Gibraltar, taking in panoramic views via the cable cars and meeting the famous Barbary macaques along the way — a highlight for many on the trip. 
The sporting programme included a hockey fixture, and two netball matches against strong local opposition. Each game was played in great spirit, giving the players valuable international experience and a chance to test themselves in new surroundings. 
A sightseeing day in Marbella allowed the group to unwind, explore the old town, and enjoy some time on the coast before returning to Gibraltar for their second hockey fixture to round off the competitive side of the tour. 
To finish, the group took part in a Dolphin Adventure, heading out on the water to see wild dolphins in their natural habitat. With views across Gibraltar, Spain, and even North Africa, it was a perfect ending to a memorable week. 
After a busy and rewarding tour, the teams departed Gibraltar with lasting memories, new friendships, and plenty of on-field and off-field experiences to take home.
