Ghent Rugby Festival

Easter weekend 2026 saw Kidderminster RFC, Senghenyydd RFC, Glynneath RFC and Blackwood RFC travel to the Ghent and Hilversum Festivals with MSG Tours.

Senghenydd U16s participated in the Hilversum Festival, an established youth rugby tournament held in Hilversum, Netherlands. The event attracts teams from across Europe, providing a structured environment for international competition at age-grade level.
The tournament offered Senghenydd U16s the opportunity to compete against a diverse range of teams, supporting both their technical development and tactical awareness. In addition to on-field performance, the festival format encouraged player interaction beyond matches, contributing to team cohesion and cultural exposure.
Blackwood RFC U16s and Glynneath RFC U18s participated in the Ghent Rugby Festival, travelling to Belgium via coach and ferry.
The Ghent Rugby Festival, which has been running for over 30 years, is a well-established event within the youth rugby calendar. It attracts teams from across the world, providing a competitive and diverse playing environment. For both teams, this presented an opportunity to test their performance against international opposition, supporting the development of technical skills and adaptability in match situations.
Off the field, the tournament environment extended beyond fixtures, with organised social activities taking place throughout the weekend. These elements encouraged player interaction and contributed to team bonding, while also exposing players to different rugby cultures and traditions.
