Maggotfest is possibly THE most social and interactive rugby tournament in America.
Handily occurring in the traditional May touring window, Maggotfest’s annual XVs tournament is a right of passage for most North American men’s, women’s and vets teams. Their ‘free beer all weekend’ mantra is a handy strap line to tempt sides across to their idyllic Montana base.
This world-famous rugby tournament is hosted by the Missoula All-Maggots Rugby Club, since 1977, in Missoula MT, USA. The emphasis at Maggotfest is on both the sport and social aspects of rugby. Teams are encouraged to not only play great rugby, but are HIGHLY encouraged to party, wear costumes, play with sportsmanship, and have fun!
Every team plays two 30-minute matches on Saturday and Sunday with a special Thursday evening ‘opener’ set aside for international touring sides seeking a full 80-minute match. The rugby elements are interspersed with white water rafting trips, pub crawls, fancy dress nights and having fun with touring sides that attend from all corners of the globe.
In May 2027, the RAF’s Marham Bulls are travelling to Maggotfest MSG with their men’s and women’s teams in tow. Flying in and out of Seattle, two nights’ exploration in this north-western city in Washington state serves as a basecamp to overcome the jetlag prior to venturing cross-country to Missoula – the home of Maggotfest in Montana.
