School Ski Trip Overview
Ski trips to Georgia may appear somewhat unconventional, yet lack nothing in snow quality, piste variety and a very affordable cost of living. Kent College, Dubai were feeling adventurous in their ski destination and chose to hop on a 3-hour flight to Georgia for their school ski trip in February.
Ski trip to Gudauri, Georgia
After an 80-minute shuttle from the airport, Kent College arrived at their accommodation at Gudauri Hut on the ski resort of Gudauri in Georgia’s southern Caucasus mountains.
At the start of the trip, the students had a full equipment fitting with professionals on the resort. Each day, the group experienced four hours of ski lessons with a private instructor. There were no more than six students per group for their daily ski lessons, meaning that the instructors could tailor the instructions more individually and each student had more one-on-one time.
However, the trip was not solely skiing; when not on the pistes, the evenings were spent participating in activities such as film / quiz nights whilst sampling the famed Georgian cuisine. Additionally, the end of the trip was spent visiting the capital, Tbilisi for their final night of their tour. En route to their accommodation, the group visited the Great Silk Road in Uplistsikhe which included a walking tour of, the UNESCO Site of Tskheta, the 6th Century Jvari Monastery and 11th Century Svetitskhoveli Cathedral. There was also some free time for the students to explore the beauty that the capital has to offer before they departed back to Dubai.
