School Ski Trip Overview
Italy is renowned for its Roman history, Mediterranean coast and iconic cuisine. But, what is often forgotten about is its high-altitude ski resorts. Putney High School didn’t forget as they chose a ski trip to Italy.
Putney High School decided that donning skis on the Italian slopes on a February trip to the Dolomites would be the tour for them. Instead of the searing summer heat, the all-girl school got to feel the crisp air and fresh snow of Folgarida-Marilleva
"The ski trip was brilliant and well organised. MSG were open, honest and went above and beyond to cater fot us as a group."
Putney High School, Ski Trip to Italy
Ski trip to Folgarida Marilleva
Flying into Bologna in Northern Italy, Putney High School travelled 4 hours towards Madonna di Campiglio in the Dolomite mountains where they would be making their base for the next week.
Separated into four groups dependant on their skiing experience, the 45 girls met their ski instructors for the week before they got to grips with the slopes.
Every morning, the Putney girls would hit the pistes with a break for lunch before going again in the afternoon. By the end of the trip, the beginners found themselves taking on the red slopes.
But, it wasn’t all ski ski ski. There were other winter-based activities to have a crack at, too. There was some improvised sledging and ‘The Hokey Cokey’ was attempted while the girls were ice skating.
Off-piste in Italy
The Putney girls needed to recuperate from the rigours of skiing. Off-piste, there was plenty of downtime in the warmth of the hotel for Putney High to relax and socialise after their days on the slope.
Swapping their skis for swimsuits for a few hours, they got the chance to escape the snow with a spot of swimming in the hotel pool. The evenings saw the girls keep themselves entertained in the games room – even putting on a quiz night and a talent show. Watch out Simon Cowell!
You can’t go to Italy and not sample any of their famous food – even in a ski resort. So, plenty of pizza and pasta was enjoyed at dinner time. To finish the trip, there was a chance to grab a souvenir as the girls stopped off at Franciacorta Outlet Village en-route to the airport.
