Islwyn Schools and Rhymney Valley Schools Rugby Union joined forces to embark on an unforgettable rugby tour to Toulon, France.
The two Welsh sides are made up of the very best from their respective valleys, requiring a destination that matched their on-field strengths. Toulon’s a city steeped in rugby heritage, which they sampled by playing against local high-flyers, CARF (Club Athlétique Raphaëlo Fréjusien), gaining valuable match experience against French opposition.
The squads also took a stadium tour of Stade Mayol, home to TOP 14’s Rugby Club Toulonnais. The huge surprise came next as they met current Toulonnais and former Welsh and British and Irish Lion international fly-half, Dan Biggar.
Before heading home, the team made the most of their final day with sightseeing in Marseille, ensuring a well-rounded tour that balanced sport, culture, and team bonding. This tour not only strengthened their skills on the field but also created lifelong memories off it.
