Cross-Curricular Trip to New York
Immanuel College discovered this year that a cross-curricular trip to New York is inspiring and insightful for all Key Stage students. Consequently, cross-curricular trips are becoming increasingly popular within schools, mixing subject groups that ultimately provides group travel at a cost-effective price. Aspirationally, ‘The Big Apple’ offers the perfect destination to explore history, business, economics and art. Further, the city boasts an unrivalled list of places to visit and sights to see.
As a result, Immanuel College explored all areas of the curriculum. The group experienced the city’s recognised art culture, its location as the finance capital of the world and indeed the phenomenal array of sporting experiences and opportunities NYC has to offer.
Most noteworthy, visits included the traditional and world-famous sights such as the Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty and the 9/11 Museum. Additionally, they developed their sense of adventure by experiencing more bespoke and unique sights. Examples include watching the world-famous New York Yankees in action and enjoying a memorable meal at Planet Hollywood.
In summary, New York ticks all of the ‘learning outside the classroom’ boxes. Whether it’s enriching your knowledge of modern and traditional art, enhancing your understanding of America’s history, experiencing the world of economics and modern politics or watching iconic sporting events, New York has it all under one roof.
"The group throughout enjoyed the Empire State Building and Top of the Rock, as well as watching the New York Yankees play at the Yankee Stadium"
