Haileybury School, Almaty: Berlin & Krakow Study Trip
Students from the Kazakhstan-based international school, Haileybury Almaty, took an unforgettable trip to Berlin and Krakow to explore significant historical sites from World War II.
The group’s time in Berlin began with a visit to the TV Tower for stunning city views, followed by a walking tour through key landmarks like the Reichstag Dome. They also learned about East Germany’s oppressive regime at the Stasi Prison Museum and enjoyed a live football match between Hertha BSC and Schalke 04 at the Olympiastadion.
In Krakow, students discovered the city’s rich Jewish heritage by visiting Schindler’s Factory, the Old Synagogue, and the Jewish Ghetto Memorial. A moving visit to Auschwitz gave them a deeper understanding of the Holocaust.
This history tour allowed students to learn outside the classroom and connect their studies with real-world history, offering them a powerful, educational experience. The trip provided invaluable insights that will resonate long after they return to school.
