Forgeside RFC to Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto & Niagara
Halting a 30-year hiatus between long haul tours was done stylishly in May 2024 by the gentlemen from Forgeside RFC.
With a long history of Canada touring under their belts, a tour was created to take the latest crop of players and supporters around a schedule comprising both new and traditional destinations.
Commencing in Montreal, the 44 travellers took in the host city of the Canadian Grand Prix, enjoying a boat ride on the Lachine Rapids and exploring the Olympic sites from 1976 Games. A close opening match saw the visitors narrowly miss out against Montreal Irish RFC.
An overnight white rafting experience separated their stay between cities. A full afternoon on the Ottawa River included an evening BBQ and beers before taking a scenic train journey south to Toronto.
After ticking off the sightseeing hotspots across three days, the tourists took to the field against Niagara Rugby for their second – and more ‘social’ – touring fixture.
