Belmont School Football and Hockey tour to the Basque region
Belmont School embarked on an exciting football and hockey tour to the Basque regions of Spain and France, visiting cities such as Bilbao, Bayonne, Bordeaux and San Sebastian.
Fixtures against local opposition, live basketball, La Liga matches, a stadium tour and more all packed into five days of touring.
The tour provided an opportunity for players to compete against local teams, experience a new sporting culture, and explore and learn about both Spain and France’s sporting cultural differences.
A standout tour highlight for Belmont was the opportunity to take part in a coaching session for the sport of Pelota, a traditional Basque sport. The group’s trip to the Eureka Science Musuem provided an alternative and thrilling experience, taking their learning outside of the classroom.
