Nothing quite comes close to the February half-term build up. Why? Because it’s ski time! We’re thrilled to say ski is back with a bang in 2023 and we’re excited to be hosting 4 awesome groups as they head off in search of snow, sun and adventure. Putney High School are embarking on their second ski tour with MSG, returning to Marilleva 1400. They’ll make use of the ski-in-ski-out accommodation and the connectivity of this hidden gem as they hop on the cable car up to the larger resort of Madonna. Just across the valley, Eaton Square Mayfair will be spending their week in the picturesque Hotel Bezze and skiing the gentle slopes of Passo Tonale. It’s great to have them back with us after their travel plans were disrupted during the pandemic. As if we’d not already packed enough in to a busy February already, as Eaton Square and Putney are departing the UK, across in Asia, Haileybury Almaty will be departing Kazakhstan and flying to Tbilisi in Georgia. We’re accustomed to Delivering the Unexpected but even for us, this is a unique opportunity. Haileybury will spend the night in Tbilisi with their guide before heading over the Gudauri for 5 unforgettable days of skiing. There’ll be no time to rest on our laurels though as we then send long term friends of MSG Tours, The Chase School, off to Madonna di Campiglio. Staying at the iconic Hotel Catturani, they’ll be taking over 70 students in search of blue sky and the perfect powder in a resort that’s become known as the Pearl of the Dolomites. Last month two of the MSG team joined St. Martin’s on their school ski trip to Italy. I caught up with Laura ‘The Explorer’ and Liam ‘The Perfectionist’ to hear about their experiences on tour. Liam’s second School Ski Trip to Andalo Liam: With this being my second, successive school ski trip to Andalo with St Martin’s I had a good relationship with the group and a knowhow of what makes them tick.  Things ran very smoothly will all children having a great time. With a large number of the group being first-time skiers they were all very inquisitive on the first morning at ski fit, but all ran very promptly. First lessons ran well and set the tone for a week of rapid progression from all four lesson groups. The groups had lessons every morning and afternoon, apart from the Tuesday when they took part in tobogganing and night skiing. In the evenings, we had some free time, a Movie Night, an evening at Night Ski (which as ever was the highlight), a romantic evening with a Valentine’s theme (where students had to choose their partners for the night and sit boy, girl, boy, girl) followed by ice skating at the local Life Park. We ended the week at a traditional pizzeria. The group enjoyed a lie in on the final morning, which was followed by a few hours in Andalo town to gather some souvenirs to take back home. For someone who has never even considered skiing, Fai Della Paganella was the ideal location for a first timer like me as it is a slightly smaller resort compared to neighbouring Andalo and Madonna, meaning that even during the half term the slopes were not too busy for nervous skiers such as myself. The variety of different level slopes meant that it suited all skiers and with the help of two dedicated instructors, we saw almost all of the students on the tour advance during the course of the week.”[/text_output][text_output] Lift selfie!
